What’s that saying? When life throws you sour lemons, make lemonade? I say fill up your entire glass and enjoy because when you have a cold sore, you don’t have to share a drop of it with anyone! Now how’s that for a silver lining to what is probably not your most favorite occasion, cold sore outbreak time?

Mom has taught you many great lessons in life but even she can’t argue that when it comes to the two weeks you suffer through a cold sore outbreak, it is time to throw some of that etiquette right out the window. You DON’T have to share! Say it with me, I know you’ve been dying to. Mine! Mine! ALL Mine! Oh, that felt good! Almost too good.

If you live in the Midwest like we do, then you know that there is no such thing as winter hibernation. In fact, snow usually means fun times. Don’t get me wrong. Some days are great for vegging out in your jammies (especially if you have a cold sore). But if you have kids, you probably don’t have the luxury of hiding away for two weeks during an outbreak. They want to be entertained and get out and play. This calls for a winter activities director. We’re talking to

It’s happening again. You’re suffering from a cold sore outbreak. You may think that the best thing to do is to hibernate for the next two weeks, dressed in your pj’s with only your cat for companionship. I know you think you have a goal. You’re going to catch up on all 6 seasons of Sex in the City. This could be a fun for a day or so, but let’s be realistic. You will resent that fever blisters are keeping you from some great parties and from living your life. I’ve got a few tips on how you can still lay low but indulge in some distracting vices that may even have you wishing you had MORE time to yourself.

Don’t be confused. I realize a coat can’t literally cover-up your fever blisters. Unless we are talking about a large Peter Pan collar or maybe a fur trim. But ‘tis the season to cover-up from the harsh elements of winter and I’m sensing a theme here. If you get the right coat, it will take focus away from your cold sore blisters. Plus, shopping is a great distraction, and you’ll have all your favorite coats long after your fever blisters have healed.
