10 Commandments of Cold Sore Outbreaks – Part II

My niece has suffered through cold sore outbreaks for most of her life. I’m amazed at how she maintains a great attitude and definitely doesn’t let an outbreak stop her in any way. I’ve used many of the lessons she’s learned and conversations we’ve had to create my 10 Commandments of Cold Sore Outbreaks to live (through your cold sores) by. 6. Thou Shalt Pamper Away

I think I’ve mentioned this before and I’ll continue to do so, give yourself some love during an outbreak. Indulge and give way to your cravings. You deserve a little pampering. Think of it this way. A happier and satisfied YOU will have less stress. And stress and cold sore outbreaks go hand in hand. So, what’s in your pamper package? A spa getaway, a suitcase full of chocolate or serenity and meditation?

7. Thou Shalt Play That Funky Music

There is a song for every mood. I could make a playlist for every day based on my emotions and what happens. It would have sad songs, dance jams, reflective tunes and even songs of celebrations. Just like Ellen Degeneres, I believe this world revolves just a little better with music. What’s your song? Tune into your emotions. If you’re down in the dumps about your cold sores or anything for that matter, there’s a song you can identify with. If you need a pick
me up and you’re tired of feeling sorry for yourself, there’s a jam for that as well. Or the best part, when you’re cold

8. Thou Shalt Not Stand Alone

You are not alone. There are A LOT of people out there who know exactly what you are going through and experience cold sore outbreaks too. Dr. Colbert, dermatologist and founder of the New York Dermatology Group, states that “almost 80% of the population gets cold sores, which means, almost everybody.” That means only 20% of the population isn’t going through what you are with cold sores. And just because they don’t suffer outbreaks, doesn’t mean they don’t know or love someone who is. So you see, we are all in some way dealing with cold sores even if we don’t all get them. 9. Thou Shalt Not Be Afraid to Love

The Beatles were right when they sang “all we need is love”! Just because you get cold sores, doesn’t mean you should shy away from love. You just need to be open and honest with current or potential partners. I’m no self-help guru but I should think this is common sense. You are you. And you happen to get cold sores sometimes. But keep in mind all of the other wonderful things you have to offer. Cold Sores DO NOT detract from any of those things. And if
you find a keeper, they will know that!

10. Thou Shalt Be Fabulous

Define fabulosity in the meaning that works for you. It is not just about trendy hot fashions, great hair and makeup and glamorous lifestyles. It is something deeper. It is abstract. It comes from within. It is mentality, emotion, and personal philosophy. Feeling fabulous on the inside makes you look fabulous on the outside…cold sore or not.
